Brose Bamberg has won the first leg of the Basketball Champions League quarter-final against AEK Athens with 71:67 and thus enters the second leg next week with a four-point cushion. Especially defensively, the cup winner showed a strong performance and deservedly secured the twelfth victory in a row. Three Bamberg players scored double-digit points. Cliff Alexander was the top scorer with 19 points.
Federico Perego: "We went into the game with the right attitude and defended very strongly for over 40 minutes. In the beginning we missed a few easy shots because we were in too much of a hurry. But that happens. We knew it would be a tough fight. It's Athens, the reigning champion, a very talented team, very well coached. We are happy with the result and the way we played. There are new 40 minutes in Athens. There we will try to compete again and see what comes out in the end."
