Brose Bamberg had to admit defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv on the 17th matchday of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with 88:90. The German champion showed a strong, courageous performance over the entire 40 minutes, but was not rewarded in the end - also due to some wrong decisions of the referees. Best Brose scorer was Ricky Hickman with 23 points, including five three pointers.
Andrea Trinchieri: „I am very sorry for my players who have shown an incredible game. We deserved to win, but the referees didn't let us. It's very simple. If you give every call for Jackson, you should at least give one on the other side. Everyone should get the same criteria. Congratulations to Maccabi, but from the bottom of my heart I say: my team would have deserved to win. We were better. I don't think spectators want to pay for tickets for a match decided by the referees. If you play against Maccabi, you don't expect a lot of calls. But today it was a bit too much. That doesn't change anything. They don't take away our passion to play at this level. It was a pleasure to watch my team today, in this arena, where other teams with ten times more budget have already stumbled. Again, everyone should ask themselves what this EuroLeague should look like, how it should develop to see just great basketball decided by players."
