Game five in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague is ahead for Brose Bamberg. This time the German champion travels to Belgrade to take on Crvena Zvezda MTS Belgrade. Tip-off in the Kombank Arena, that offers space for up to 20.000 fans, is at 6pm CET. Telekomsport will broadcast live.

Only two times the teams have met so far. Both games ended with a victory for the Serbian team and both awaken bad memories for Brose Bamberg. They lost by only one point in november 2016 after the lead had changed five times during the last four minutes. The return game ended with a six-point-win for Belgrade. Luka Mitrovic added 8 points in his last season for the Serbians.

Belgrade’s strength on their homecourt led them to wins against Barcelona and Tel Aviv. After two wins and two losses Crvena Zvezda is at eighth place and only ahead of Brose Bamberg (9) because of their better scoring difference. Brose Bamberg recently bet Málaga and Vitoria. The top scorer of the reigning ABA-champion is Milko Bjelica (18 ppg) followed by sharpshooter Taylor Rochestie (16.8 ppg). Rochestie is also the third best scorer in the ABA (20 ppg). Just like Brose Bamberg’s last EuroLeague opponents Belgrade is known for their strength at the offensive board with nearly 13 offensive rebounds per game. While there are three 2.11 meters tall players in the roster of head coach Dusan Alimpijevec Mathias Lessort (2.06 meters) is the team’s best rebounder. So far the frenchman secured 14 offensive boards. Bambergs best offensive rebounder is Augustine Rubit with 13 boards.

Rubit recently rested against ALBA BERLIN. Head coach Andrea Trinchieri paused him and point guard Daniel Hackett after two intensive EuroLeague games. That many players were in need of a break could be seen during the last ten minutes against Berlin. The team ran out of gas and had to take a 75:77-loss against ALBA. Dorell Wright scored 18 points in his first BBL game. Wright is currently the top scorer of the ABA league with 26.8 points per game that he averaged during four games for KK Igokea.

Luka Mitrovic: „It will be a hard game and a hard opponent - especially at home. It’s one of the loudest arenas in Europe. Of course I’m looking forward to come back and see my family and friends. But for 40 minutes I focus on just one thing: winning this game.“
